Thank you so much. My 99 0lds Aurora Key-Pass went kapoot! Out of nowhere it quit reading my key. I found your post and went to Radio Shack. Followed the directions and saved a ton of money.. Works great!! As a note, the wires on the 99 aurora are in a small black casing that runs over top of the steering column and then back into the mess of wires that goes down under the dash. Both wires inside the casing are tiny white wires.. good luck to anyone else.. it was a breeze..

That was pretty awesome..!! Earlier I had spent 3 days in installing and even that gave segmentation errors. This script just ran for about 5 minutes and installed Ruby!! Hats off.

Had same problem with my 95 Olds. Had it fixed at my local starter, alternator shop for $35.00. Did not want to know what local dealer wanted. I very much appreciate the advice.You saved me a TON of cash. Thanks a MILLION! LEE

The main cause is the style white-space: nowrap;
This is a "known" bug in IE6 and fixed in IE7

There are 2 workarounds to this issue
1. wrap the text in . This can still cause issues in somecases.
2. replace all spaces with

The later works best.

I doubt anyone would install under /, if that's what you mean. For myself I typically install under /usr/local as the root user (which is the same as leaving out --prefix).

I wrote this up when I was trying to help someone who wanted to install it as the root user but under /opt/rails, which is kind of a strange place to put Ruby, but whatever. That particular person was having continued difficulties despite more terse advice about how to use --prefix.

There are other variations, like system-installed Ruby but with your gems somewhere else, but I wanted to keep it simple here.

Thanks, I had looked at those other examples and also had problems with URL generation. Extremely clever your approach! :)
